Pivot
Pivot is a free download. If you google "free download pivot animation" you will easily be able to find a site you can download this program from. Pivot is heaps of fun, you will spend hours creating animated scenes.
- red dots = move parts of the figure
- orange dot = move the whole figure
- move the figure a small distance
- press "Next Frame" to capture the photo (shows up the top)
It's a good idea to add a background to your pivot animation. It is advisable to add the background at the beginning. You can either go to a Paint program and paint your own background or load a picture from your My Pictures folder. When loading a picture make sure the picture is big enough, you may have to try out a few before you find one that is easy enough to work with. Painting your own background is often the easiest way to go and heaps of fun too.
Play and Stop the pivot movie
Repeat ticked = it will loop
Slide makes the movie play faster or slower
You can change the figure which is selected:
Delete the figure
Edit the figure
Center on the stage
Flip the figure around, make it face the other way
Change the colour
Place the figure in front or behind another figure
Change the size of the figure
This is where you will be able to:
- Open a new pivot window
- open a previously saved pivot animation
- save a newly created one
- load or clear a background
- Create a figure type

Here you can see I have created a bike using lines and circles. |
Please remember to save your work as you go. Save it as a pivot file into your pivot folder. When you have finished your pivot animation, save it once again as a pivot file, then save it as a gif file.
